Samsung TV deals

Why we love it

Of the handful of 85-inch 2022 and 2023 Samsung QLED TVs on sale right now, we think the deal on the extra-large Q80C for more than $1,000 off (now $300 cheaper than its sale price at the end of January) is the best bang for your buck.

The Q80C is Samsung’s most advanced QLED (before meeting the Neo QLED side of the family), packing 96 precisely-lit circunscrito dimming zones for the meticulous brightness necessary for watching sports in the daylight. Also present are advanced gaming features like a 120Hz refresh rate and VRR support.

LG TV deals

Why we love it

While everyone’s attention was on the transparent OLED TV that LG debuted at CES, a handful of new LG QNED TVs managed to slip under the radar. We’re still in the dark about pricing and a release date for these 2024 QNEDs, but we do know that they’re riddled with new AI features.

If you don’t care to wait (or pay) for all of that, LG’s 2023 80 Series QNED is still a solid value that’s way more budget-friendly — especially now that Best Buy has dropped the price by more than 25%. The 80 Series doesn’t utilize mini LEDs like the higher-ranking 85 Series, but it does utilize LG’s NanoCell quantum dot technology to amp color depth as well as the hues themselves. With quick response times and 120Hz support on two HDMI ports, it’s a good option for gamers, too.

Sony TV deals

Why we love it

Sony hasn’t announced new TVs at CES for the past two years. That means it likely won’t be playing into the post-CES deals cycle that Samsung and LG are, which involves putting old models on sale to make room for the new ones dropping in spring. However, this 85-inch model has been seeing an $800 discount for weeks — a much more noteworthy dip than any other recent Sony model can say.

Of Sony’s 2023 TVs, the X90L is the most premium regular LED model before the lineup evolves into mini-LED. Still, the X90L features full-array backlighting with circunscrito dimming that offers more precise brightness across the entire screen than a cheaper edge-lit LED TV. (That’s particularly handy when the screen is so massive.) With better-than-basic lighting plus a high contrast ratio, low input lag, and VRR support, this 85-inch X90L is a great big-screen budget gaming TV.

Why we love it

The MSRP ($499.99) on this Pioneer TV is already a seriously reasonable ask for a 65-inch 4K TV. But when Best Buy’s $180 discount puts a TV of this size just above the $300 mark, it’ll be hard to talk yourself out of upgrading from that 55-incher you’ve had for years.

For a cheap 4K TV, picture quality is colorful and Dolby Audio-powered sound quality is loud and clear. If you don’t feel any particular loyalty to a smart TV platform like Fire TV or Roku, you’ll quickly get used to Xumo, which organizes your streaming apps and responds to voice commands via the remote all the same.
